Welcome back to...

Project Runway!!!! May I hereby declare my love for Tim Gunn again; if he weren't gay I'll rank him along my other old men crushes like Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan!!!

And I also want to take this opportunity to BOO tyra banks who just thinks she's an absolute goddess. It makes me want to puke when all the models on ANTM just scream hysterically/cry/(hello??)/reach out to touch her (yes, I'm thinking woman with the issue of blood in the Bible who HAD to touch Jesus' cloak to get healed; this one I can understand cos I would definitely have done the same). It's probably one of the criteria to getting on the show: MUST ADORE TYRA or otherwise convince viewers that you do.
Then there is the issue of her putting on weight and looking like a gargantuan WHALE and she was all like, here I am in my bra and I'm not going to change anything I love my body shit. Have you seen her recently? She lost a ton of weight. And of course, came up with some crappy excuse. I don't know why people will just not admit that there is pressure to succumb to skinny. If she was so lovin' the 'plus-sizedness' then it seems logical that she should have continued to balloon???  See. The size zero camp always wins. HA. I'm not going to watch anth that has to do with Tyra from now on cos she's a hypocrite. Make that hippocrite. HAHAAHAHA. And may Oprah, Ellen, Larry King, Jay Leno and all the other talkshow hosts continue to be in a league of their own in terms of ratings. BOOOO TYRA. you suck.

I'm so glad we made it to Thursday. Oh, as I'm typing this Friday. YAY!!!! not that the weekend is going to be relaxing since I have to rush my essay (on Robinson Crusoe, no less....ZzzZzzzzzzzZzzZ). But once I'm done, I'm OFF TO SYDNEY AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gonna get a good prep pedi in a bright cheery hue tmr. When you're going to be in flip-flops, flowy dresses (with flowy tresses!) the whole time, nothing is more important. Happy long weekend everybody! You must/will be loving it!

Up for air

I'm thinking of leaving the dance ministry.
I just don't feel like I can commit anymore.
Am I being impulsive? Hope not.
Anyway, I know that once I've made up my mind there's no going back.
I probably should give myself a set amount of weeks of going for practice and then decide.
I dunno, 12? 16?
I'm really struggling, and I don't want to anymore.

A lull; school so dull

Well well.
The main reason I'm not feeling the drag of school so far (it's week 5 now) is because I don't even feel like term has started. Really.
It's very scary. I've totally lost my momentum after 3 months of holiday.
I mean, I wouldn't claim to say that the 3 months just flew by. They didn't.
I had sucha good time staying over at Terence's, shopping, reading my mags, watching TONS of dvds and in the process making friends with the VideoEzy peeps, working once/twice a week, getting engaged and just living day to day and wrecking my brains over what, which outfit to wear the next day? FUN!
This semester I'm taking 3 literature core modules, and was not assigned any elective at all. I don't quite mind, my AU clearance being quite on track, except that it makes me even less motivated to go to school. I have 9 hrs of classes spread equally over 3 days in a week, and that's so little.
And yet, I'm actually behind in my readings. Yes, they're boring but no, I don't think I'm trying very hard to get through them.
I wouldn't say I'm terribly interested in my modules as well, which is a real pity because I would like to enjoy every bit of my education. Helpppppppppppppppp.
Nevermind, mid sem break is coming up. Have found this new optimism within myself. Hahaaaaa! :)

P.S. Was at an August magazine (it's a men's editorial) photoshoot with Terence and AhLoy on Monday at Fitness First. I absolutely swooned at my fiance's gym shots. He's really so fit! I don't have the pics with me currently but I hope to post them up before the november issue hits stands. Yum. He does still make me weak-kneed :)

Bah.

I've been seeing alot of the word 'girlish' in local magazines recently and I don't like the sound of it. I feel that 'girly' sounds better. Don't you agree? I looked up both words on my Mac dictionary and 'girlish' was used in a sentence such as: "She broke out in a fit of girlish giggles." Girly, on the other hand, is apparently  an often derogatory term. I don't think it has such a connotation in our part of the world though. SO with that, let's do a sound check.

1) This dress is at once elegant and girly!
2) This dress is at once elegant and girlish!

The former sounds better. I can't describe why. I think 'girlish' should only used in the context of an adverb ('girlishly') or a noun ('girlishness'). I wish the fashion writers would stop dropping 'girlish' into almost every other sentence. Enoughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. It's the same way our primary school teachers reminded us to stop using as generic an adjective as 'good' in our compositions.

So, so gorgeous.

Forget Angelina, Jess Alba and all the rest (Megan WHO?).
Forget Marilyn Monroe even (I never rated her anyway).
Gwen Stefani is THE hot mama.
And she rocks red lips best (although it's kinda fuchsia-ish in these shots)!
Which makes me come in a close second. HAHAHA. Kidding.
To top it all off, we share the same birthday.
How can I not be in love?
Absolutely stunning.
(Let's hope she's ALL au naturale)

One of life's mysteries

Ok, let me try to be as short and succinct as possible.
It is the conundrum of why some fat people insist on dressing so skimpily.
I saw a living tofu on the train today; she was fat, fair, jiggly, wobbly and chunky.
And she was wearing a spag top and short shorts.
Like please okay. Today is Friday. I don't know why she wouldn't want to give all of us a break.
MY EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And if you want to bare so much skin and wear black, don't think we are none the wiser.
It can't ever be a coincidence that black is your favourite colour.
You want to show, and yet you want to conceal.
How stupid can one get?!
And you would think that with a body size like that her brain might at least be a little bigger right.
Yucks.
And with the end of this entry, I command myself to recover from this trauma.
I wish all of you much more pleasant journeys on the MRT.

My Utopia

This entry has been a long time coming. Please do enjoy.
Well, as you all already know, I was in Sydney on August 9th but I did have a National Day moment nonetheless.
We were at the sailing club in Rose Bay, and I had just had the tremendous honour of christening Terence & Roy's boat with a bottle of champagne. I popped the cork and pronounced a blessing on Majulah (as she's named) and then the boys set out to sea for the very first time while I waved them off (bottle in hand, polishing off the remaining champers hahaha).
Because the other boats at the bay were smaller, Majulah was towering head and shoulders above the rest. As I was gazing upon 'SIN' for Singapore on their sail right up there, I just felt so proud.

When I think of Singapore, I think of her in the good ol' days before she started being infested by china chinese. I may be young, but I am old enough to remember a Singapore free from bastardization, which essentially is the growing presence not of foreigners, but of china chinese. That was my utopia.

First of all, let me address the rebuttals forming at lightning speed in your head.
1. How can I be racist against my own race? Ans: I don't actually see them as a 'race'. They are in a subgroup all on their own.
2. But your forefathers came from china! Ans: Acknowledged. But I think along the way, we Singaporeans  have flourished and learnt social etiquette and awareness.

Granted, we still have a long way to go. But I believe we have learnt to stand, not SQUAT behind the yellow lines while waiting for the trains. I believe we follow the natural course of human expression and only shout in anger and excitement or when other people cannot hear us, and not as a part of everyday conversation (and worse still, in an enclosed space such as a bus). I believe we have the concept of filial piety ingrained in us more so than the place where it originated from; why else would I, a lady, have had to give up my seat on the MRT to an old lady while the two chinamen beside me just ignored her?

I have the utmost respect for our MM, but I absolutely cannot agree with his stance of being accepting and open to these lowlifes to help our ageing population. More than anything, they are superficially (as I have shown above) and morally (here's to you cpf-sucking, coffee-shop-uncle-targeting parasites) tarnishing our country. I make it a priority, when I can, to make them feel unwelcome (after witnessing the chinamen snub my old lady, I paid the deed back by promptly remaining in my MRT seat when a pregnant china woman came on. Yes, I was very sure. She was conversing with her husband in that bloody annoying whiny accent. No one can mistake that). The fact that the MM had to address this is very interesting isn't it? Surely there's growing resentment among Singaporeans. We won't leave our beloved nation to the dogs!

True, this is reality. But I have much more pleasant memories of Singapore which I will continue to revisit until this issue is addressed, or until I migrate. After all, home is where the heart is whereas a nation is but a concept.
